Visiting Assistant Professor of French at Colgate University

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Colgate University invites applications for two one-year positions as Visiting Assistant Professor of French beginning Fall 2026. Completion of the Ph.D. is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire. Candidates should have a record of excellence in teaching in French language at all levels and in literature. The field of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose research focus would supplement the department's coverage for the 2026-2027 academic year. The normal teaching load is 5 courses per year. The successful candidate will be expected to teach language classes at all levels, as well as survey courses and undergraduate seminars in literature. Participation in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum, may also be expected.
